Reykjavík Folk-Dance Association
The Reykjavík Folk-Dance Association was founded
on the Iclandic national holiday, June 17, 1951. The main puropse of the
Association is to study and spread knowledge of national folk-dances and
realeted activity as a part of the Iclandic heritage. The goals
of the Association are:
a) To stimulate people´s interest in folk-dancing,
both national and international to promode the teaching of folk dancing
and to maintain an information service for folk-dancers.
b) To collect and write down decriptions of folk-dances,
to collect folk-songlyrics and to record their music.
c) To promote national costumes in their orginal form.
